Absent Again: Conservative candidate Greg Kung dodges another debate and questions from Kanata voters
Kanata, ON
Debates play a vital role in our democracy. They give voters the chance to hear directly from candidates, compare platforms, and make informed decisions about the future of their community.
Conservative candidate Greg Kung has now skipped two key opportunities to do just that. After being a no-show at the televised Rogers debate, he is once again absent — this time from the Kanata Seniors Council debate, which was open to all Kanata residents to attend.
With advance polls opening this weekend from April 18 to 21, this was an important moment for voters to hear from all candidates before casting their ballots.
“Voters deserve to know who Greg Kung really is and what he stands for,” said Jenna Sudds, Liberal candidate for Kanata. “There are still many unanswered questions about him, including the pro-life endorsement he received from anti-abortion lobby group Campaign Life Coalition, which he has yet to reject outright.”
Equally concerning is Greg Kung's repeated refusal to take interviews from the media. This is a troubling pattern with Pierre Poilievre and his Conservatives candidates. If they can’t handle local media or answer to the public, it raises serious questions about who else they might avoid and what issues they’ll back down from when it truly matters.
In the face of President Donald Trump’s unjustified trade war, Canadians need strong leaders who can stand up to him and defend our country’s sovereignty and our economy.
“This is the most important election of our lifetime. Canadians have questions and deserve answers from all their local candidates and their leaders,” said Jenna Sudds, Liberal candidate for Kanata.
“If the Conservative candidate is not willing to face voters in a public forum, he’s definitely not going to stand up for them in rooms where decisions are made about their future.”
